This story was originally shared in the May 2022 Partnership Press, quarterly newsletter.
In approximately 2016, a group of missionaries from TCWM (Partner 135) set out on a trip to Moroto in Northeastern Uganda. This area was very oppressed and struggling to recover from the atrocities of Idi Amin and many years of tribal confrontations and wars. Their goal was to determine the state of the church and to plant a “beachhead” for the Gospel if there was not one already.
Over the next several months, a piece of land previously owned by Baptists was redeemed and, because of the partnership of people just like you, a house of worship was built. Many (about 26 people) were led to redemption through Jesus Christ and the church began to grow.
In 2022, a very small team from Partner 135 went back to the area to assess how the Gospel was advancing. We were pleased to discover that the small church in Moroto had grown to 170 people! There have also been three additional churches planted by Moroto.
This area is still struggling and in need of the Good News of Jesus’ Kingdom. The primary occupation in tribal villages is Cattle Rustler. So, one can quickly imagine the needs are great. In one small community named Lopotouk, there are now 70 followers of Jesus! The village leader donated the land to build a church building and they have removed the former shrine to their god and want the building right on that spot because the Kingdom of God has conquered and reclaimed this territory.
Thank you for giving to Partner 135 and advancing the Gospel into some very desperate situations.
Blessings,
