The Gospel Will Not Be Stopped

This story was originally shared in the May 2022 Partnership Press, quarterly newsletter.

In 2020, Uganda was experiencing what the rest of the world was experiencing. The COVID-19 pandemic was having its way in some areas and the country was forced to go into lockdown. Churches in cities were closed and worshippers no longer were able to attend their churches. In most cases, people travel by foot many miles to hear the Word of God preached and to worship the Lord. In the West, many of us also faced similar situations and began to meet online. Words like “zoom” took on a whole new meaning in our vernacular. In Uganda though, this was not possible. But, what was intended for harm by our adversary was turned completely back on his head, and the church in Uganda began to multiply. It discovered that 12 churches were planted and over 2,000 new followers of Jesus were welcomed in during the pandemic!

One small village named Orwaka had 5-6 followers of Christ who traveled many miles typically but were forced to stay home. They were convicted to start a church in their town. They began to pray. They began inviting their neighbors into their huts. They preached the Word “out of season” and many came to Christ and a church was planted. They began to pray for a building and they began to make bricks.

Through prayer, faith, and generosity of people like you, they built a house of worship and there are now 100 adult followers of Jesus in Orwaka. Recently, I was blessed to preach the Gospel in this small town and saw more people welcomed into the Family of God.

Thank you for your partnership to advance God’s Kingdom.

Blessings,
